Imported music, then scanned, whilst computer completely idle (my library takes forever to scan, so I just leave it)Īnd bang it crashed again. Installed ONLY one plugin, and that is the official last.fm plugin. I did a complete fresh install, removing all traces on winamp first. before I upgraded I posted this thread: and was told to upgrade. I would buy Android devices again. It's the same for me. We ourselves experienced that on the 3rd October, and on the next day I had to buy a new router.Īnd the mobile OS? No Apple Tablet and no Apple Handy please, but Android is okay. The OS has to be on the computer itself and not on a cloud, also because it can happen, that a router doesn't work anymore. I would wish the same, and it can also be a custom built PC with Windows 7, I just don't want to have a computer with Windows 8.īut someone else at the telephone said, Windows 8 wouldn't be terrible enough, Windows 10 would be much worse (why should Windows 9 be skipped?). Another men in Berlin got a custom built PC from his son with Windows 7, after Windows 8 had been already released. If someone has to decide for a Windows-Version, then I always say: "Windows XP / Vista / 7, but no Windows 8". Windows 8? Urgs!!! The Metro View is so ugly, the Desktop View is much better, and many artist-colleagues didn't get their musician- & DJ-software working on Windows 8. 2011 I bought my notebook with Windows 7 and 2 bed-tables, because I want to listen (& watch) to the music also in the bed (the same files are also there, not only on my PC). I didn't learn to know Windows 2000 & Windows ME.Ģ004 Windows XP came into the house, 2007 & 2009 Windows Vista came (our 2 current PCs, from Frank and me), and I don't want to hear "Vista? Urgs!!!", because only on Vista there is no flickering, if Milkdrop is in desktop mode. But I remember "Creatures" & "Rave Ejay" as software. The harddrives were very small, and we didn't have MP3s yet, only CDs. If you get any more of those AOL CD's stick them in the microwave for 5 seconds and cut them up for Christmas ornaments. But boy, if you got any of those 90's AOL CD's and installed one. Your parent company kept me well employed removing the AOL rootkit CD well into this century, I'm not even sure it was a rootkit. but it was Windows exploits, not the llama. Winamp did screw me a couple times over the years. That's one thing about these Nullsoft guys (and NOT AOL). I figured out how to bounce it, but other people probably weren't on the case. It effectively was a DOS attack because the server was bruised. They were trying to "brute force" password files. My latest fun about a month ago is that about 5000 compromised computers hit one of my webs. Lots of people are on the case to make sure your internet experience is happy. If I get hacked, it was running a clean house and people were smart. If I miss please consider your own security. I run very clean webs but I have exposed perhaps 10,000 in 20 years. It was smoked in an hour.Ībout 7000 people pass my webs every day. If you thought todays Windows had Zero Day Exploits.Ībout 10 years ago I exposed Win 2000 server to the internet on an old license I still have. That is still the browser for Ubuntu 12.04 LTS distro and it's still halfway hardened.Īsk the Iranians about Stuxnet. Internet Explorer < 9 leaves exploits that will take total control of your hardware. You should consider trying to run Xubuntu and Firefox. Please do not expose any machines running 2000 to the internet. I'm not sure if any of the old hacks and cracks are left, but that's security swiss cheese.
